A good quest idea is assasination of corrupt officials. As the player's character develops so should the difficulty of killing the target and also who gives the player the quest.

Claim Holder Quest
This quest may be given to you by a person of high authority e.g Count. This quest would involve eliminating someone who has a claim to the quest giver's title. The claim may have been gained through marriage, ancestry or perhaps have been purchased and the claim holder would attempt to press his claim against the current title holder. In order to complete this quest you would either have to defeat the claim holder in combat or eliminate the current title holder in order to have the claim holder achieve his title.

Hello, here’s another quest suggestion, there’s alot of text because i tried to write allmost all the dialogue. Oh and the spell check didn't work(and i haven't got a english spell check) so sorry about that. At first it is a investigation quest(Debt of Honor) that takes the player to Bobbio Abbey. At the abbey it is possible to ally with either the guelf or the ghibs and get a new quest(protect or rescue). The player keep the first quest. The player does not have to ally with either. Both ghib and guelf will lie and cheat the player into losing the original quest. There are three possible endings to this story, the two include a knightly duel in the end-and all a 2-3 sided battle.
This story involves many interests and many relations depending dialogue choices are to be made(if possible).
This is for a citizen player. The quest starts at random when the player initiates dialogue with one of the nobles in the players hometown. Debt of Honor noble: “Ah there you are (player name). I have a rather unusual request, a favor for a fellow noble. Hrm, this is a very delicate matter, that demands a very delicate approach. Well I hrm.... I have a debt of honor that must be paid. Unfortunately I have no means to perform the task asked of me......hrm well actual it is not neccesary for you to know why I am in this debt, but only to whom. I owe a favor to the illustrius noble Ulrich von Sponheim, I cannot do this, so I ask you to preserve my honor and act on my behalf in this matter. Will you be my arm, mouth and ears? Will you take on a unknown task and act on my behalf? I will leave every decision to you, and my name will be your shield, if needed. Are you my champion?”
player response: 1) “I will, I will and I am.” 2) “I have the highest respect for you and your name, I will act on your behalf. Even though I find it puzzling that you owe this foreigner a debt of honor.” 3) “With all respect, I cannot take on your name and responsibilities, as you cannot take mine. I must decline your request.” 4) “No, I will not help those invading scoundrels, they are my enemies as they should be yours.”
noble response to 1&2: “Aah thank you, I knew from I first saw you that you were embedded with a noble and honoroble spirit. I think this particular mission will be nourishing to your noble heart. One of Sponheims daughters is apparently in some kind of trouble. Go to Trent and meet Ulrich von Sponheim, show him my seal and he will deal with you as he would with me. Now go.” 3&4: “You say no? I though better of you, well then go your own way. If you have even the slightest respect for my name, you will not mention this to anyone.” (quest ends and reappears a good time later.)
1&2 should give better relations with nobles and 3&4 should worsen them.
In Trent when initiating dialoque with Ulrich von Sponheim: „I see you have the seal of my friend. You are here on his behalf. Very good, I will place my trust in you as I would in him. I fear for my daughters life, she is a nun in the Bobbio Abbey, and recently the strangest rumor have reached my family. My daughter Katarina is the talk of the commoners! They call her Sister Faustina and knows her for being either a witch or a saint, and they say she has some kind of powers....bah I care not for the common peoples superstitions, but I care for my name and my daughters life. Now I have heard that the church have sent out two priests to her abbey, they are to determine whether god or devil is speaking through her, if she is a witch or a saint! Then they will take her to see the Archbishop in Milan!”
player response: “I don’t quite understand what you fear. You want me to stop the peaple talk of your daughter? Why do you fear for her life?”
Ulrich von Sponheim: „I feel in my very bones that something is dangerously wrong with this. Even though I am a godfearing man, I am not a popefearing one, as you know. I do not trust these priests and most saints are dead before they become saints. I want you to go to the abbey and discover any dangers for my daughters life. I want you to make sure that no danger lurks. Whenever you are satisfied with her safety, return to me.”
player response: 1) “I will not rest till I am sure the lady Katarina is safe. I leave at once.” 2) “The honor of a noble bids me to assist you, but the honor of the church demands that I leave this. I will not meddle in the affairs of the pope. “
Ulrichs response: 1. “Godspeed and remember, if force is needed, come to me.” 2. “I see, a Guelf before being a noble. Tell your master that his name no longer is recognized as a noble one by me”. (end of mission) (1.should give +relations with imperials&nobles and –relations with papal. 2. vice versa)
Merchant rumors about the nun Faustina: “Isn’t wonderful, that sister Faustina at Bobbio, she has saved us from famine. She foresaw the heavy rain this harvest. We got the grain inside before the downpour could destroy it. She is a godsend, a true angel.”
“I hear that the pope is considering our local Sister Faustina for sainthood. Did you know, Faustina isn’t her real name, actually she is a german noblemans daughter, I guess that her own impious people must be sorry to have lost such a angel to us pious lombards.”
“Did you hear, the sister Faustina, she’s actually a german witch. She has come all the way down from those northern barbarians to put their heathen curses upon us, why can’t the chuch stop it?”
At the Bobbio Abbey: characters(three new, two old): Sister Faustina/Katarina Sponheim, in the church Father Alfonso and Father Miguel, in the courtyard. The nun in the courtyard The monastic knight in the courtyard
The nun, new dialogue option: “Tell me sister, what is all this talk of your sister Faustina?” nun response: “It is truly a miracle, a genuine miracle here in our own little abbey. In the night, angels come to Faustina, and they whisper in her ear. They warn us through her. She saved this years harvest you know.” player response: “Hm.. they warn us you say? What else does these angels tell her, anything not about agriculture?” nun response: “ Oh yes, it so exciting! Some weeks ago Faustina talked of a great battle and of the Emperor with the red beard. Something about sinking in deep water, water looking calm and being dangerous..I think thats what she said.” player response: “ Thank you Sister, you have been most helpful I think, goodday.”(end of conversation)
Monastic knight, new dialogue option: “Honoroble Brother, tell me of this saintly sister Faustina, is she inspired by god or devil, or anyone else?” knight response: “No one can rightfully accuse sister Faustina of being diabolic, she is the saintliest of sisters. The most pious and truthful. As is everyone else from this abbey.” player response: “and what about those not from this abbey?” knight response: “My Order is above your earthly squabbles, I cannot interfere nor help. I can tell you that in nine days sister Faustina will leave for Milan, I fear for her safety.” player response: “thank you, you have been most helpful.”(end of conversation)
Sister Faustina/Katarina Sponheim, when dialogue is initiated: “The sister Faustina is a thin and very pale young woman. Her blue eyes have the look of a hunted animal, her voice trembles with a strange and allmost hystrical excitement. Very slowly she raise her head to greet you with a nod.”
player response: “Are you the sister Faustina, formerly named Katarina Sponheim?”
Faustina response: “I am sister Faustina, yes. But you have travelled in vain, I do not tell fortunes or make love potions or any of that kind. The Lord has cursed me, I am sure. Leave me be in my misery, stranger.”
player response1: 1,1 “As you wish blessed sister.” (end of conversation) 1,2 “I am (player name) and your father, Ulrich von Sponheim has sent me. Your family is worried that you may be in some danger. “
Faustina response: 1,2 “My father! Oh thank you dear sweet god! I knew that he still cared, I knew it. He is my father isn’t he, how couldn’t he care.”
player response: “He does care, and have sent me to protect you, now tell me young Lady Sponheim, what is the threat?”
Faustina response: “Threat? Oh sorry, my outburst must have mislead you, there is no threat, I am in the house of our Lord, nothing can happen that is not meant to. I was just so happy to hear that my earthly father still cared. When we last parted, words were spoken... But now he must have forgiven me.”
player response2: 2,1 “I see, but I have been charged with your safety and I must make sure. Are there no dangers here, meant to be or not?” 2,2 “Nothing that is not meant to...I see, tell me sister why do you say you are cursed, certainly you are blessed.” 2,3 “Fausti.... Lady Sponheim, your father is worried about the papal investigation of your person. He suspects they could decide against you, to hurt him. Do you trust the two priests?” 2,4 “Thank you for your kindness, I must take my leave of you.” (end of conversation)
after each of faustinas responses to 2, the player will have response options 2 again. Faustina response2: 2,1 “Danger, I know of no such thing, what happens is meant to. I accept my life in gods hand, if ill do come upon me it is the will of the Lord. Danger does not exist within these walls.” 2,2 “Blessed and cursed both, the Lord has blessed me with revelations of events not yet come to pass. Men has cursed me with their jealousy and ambition. It is men who seek to change or use the future, I seek nothing but peace from the world and it’s turnings.” 2,3 “Oh old Ull, he hasn’t changed at all, cobwebs of intrigue everywhere... They are two of the pope’s must trusted servants. They are among the holiest of men. I trust th... it does seem, maybe I am still my fathers daughter, but it does seem that the Father Miguel from Pavia have a hostile mentality towards me, I cannot define it, but it’s there.”
Two Priests at Bobbio Father Alfonso from Milan(guelf agent), when dialogue is initiated: “Ah, you must be (player name), send by our most saintly sisters proud father, correct? I am Alfonso from Milan, and it is my great privilegde to witness one of the great miracles of our time. Is it not amzing and allmost profetic that god has chosen this woman from among his barbaric enemies to bear witness to his greatness.”
player response1: 1,1 “Apparently you believe her to be a true saint? How can that be, when she isn’t a martyr?” 1,2 “What does the Archbishop in Milan think of all this?” 1,3 “Do think me a fool? Now stop this smalltalk and tell me the truth, you knew who sent me, what’s going on, really?” 1,4 “I must leave....” (end of conversation)
Alfonso response1: after alfonsos answers 1,1&1,2 the player response options is response1 again. 1,1 “She is no saint yet, but she will be, believe me. She is chosen I am sure. Allready she has saved hundreds of lives from famine with her premonitions. If any is holy, she is. You are wrong, saints do not have to be martyrs, but the early saints are so, that is right. When she is with god, the pope will decide is she is a saint or not.” 1,2 “He believes as I, that she is holy, a sign sent to ease our suffering. Her revelations soothe our hearts in these times of war and invasion.” 1,3 “The truth, the truth is that I am well aware of you and your mission, the truth is that you must chose a side in the war that devide these lands. Are you with us, the Guelf Leage, before any other loyalties?”
player response2 to 1,3: 1. “Hmm I’m not really sure right now.....”(end of conversation) 2. “Certainly not!” (end of conversation –relations with guelf) 3. “Truly I am a Guelf first.” (+relations with guelf)
Alfonso response2: 3. “Very well, (player name) you need not know everything of this matter, but trust me when I say that this woman is holy. Angels speak through her mouth. Her revelations are of the highest importence, as are her safety. That is why the Archbishop has demanded that she be brought to Milan under his protection. we leave in nine days. My servants tell me that the Ghibelline traitors plan to attack our travel party, One of the Beccarias from Pavia, young Marcus will lead their force. You (player name), you have a little time to raise some troops to assist us in defending sister Faustina on the road to Milan.”
player response: “Fear not Alfonso, I will be back within nine days with some troops.”(end of conversation.) NOW the player gets a new quest “Protect Katarina’s party” (old “debt of honor” quest still active)
Father Miguel from Pavia(Ghibelline agent), when dialogue is initiated: “A blessing on you (player name)” player response: 1. “And many on you I’m sure. What is your opinion on this sister Faustina?” 2. “I have been sent by Ulrich von Sponheim to investigate into this talk of his daughter.” 3. “I must leave....” (end of conversation)
Miguel response: 1&2. “It is a must unfortunate situation, you see the commonfolk are convinced that sister Faustina is either a holy woman or a witch. And the chucrh must decide which. I must say that i believe she is neither, which is must unfortunate.”
player response: “why is this unfortunate as you say?”
Miguel response: “ why that is because she is not holy, then the archbishop in Milan will probably declare her a witch, she will be burned. This is most sad, my colleage, the commoners and the brothers of this abbey all believe her to be a coming saint. In the end they will want revenge for their disappointment.”
player response: 1. “Hm I see, a most unhappy situation. I must leave....” (end of conversation) 2. “Now I am neither peasant nor naive clergy. Tell what is going on here, and tell me NOW!”
Miguel response to 2: “You are here in the service of Ulrich von Sponheim, but are you a loyal Ghibelline first?”
player response: 1. “I’m not really sure at the moment.......” (end of conversation) 2. “Certainly not!” (end of conversation, -relations with ghibs) 3. “I am loyal to the ghibelline Leage.” (+relations with ghibs)
Miguel response to 3: “Good, now listen, you cannot know everything about this matter, but know this. The guelf traitors plan to fabricate false devine revalations to use to their own ends. To give these lies credibility they will have to murder sister Faustina and make her a saint. We cannot allow this horrendous crime to take place. In nine days Faustina will leave with father alfonso for Milan. They will be escorted by a party of papal knights led by the young Fabbro Polenta from Ravenna. We will stop them and bring the young sister to safety in Pavia. There is still time, go and raise some troops, and be back in nine days. Meet with the noble Marcus Beccaria close by, then we shall save Faustina.”
player response: “I shall return and then we shall save the Lady Katarina” (end of conversation) NOW the player get a new quest, “rescue Katarina, bring her to Pavia” (old “debt of honor” quest is still actice) If the player choses either ghib or guelf side, the option to join the other should disappear in the conversation with the other agent. When the player leaves the abbey the quest text to “debt of honor” is supplemented with”in nine days Katarina leaves for Milan.” the three endings Now the player should have chosen one of the three sides/quests: 1. to complete the original “debt of honor” quest without helping guelf/ghib. this means to kidnap Katarina/defeat both parties, and bring her to Ulrich in Trent. 2. to go with the guelfs and protect the travel party on its way to Milan.”protect Katarinas party” 3. to go with the ghibellines and try to kidnap Katarina and bring her to Pavia.”rescue Katarina......”
In all three possibilities is it possible to go to Trent and get help from Ulrich von Sponheim. In Trent, when initiating dialogue with Ulrich: “What news, are my daughter safe? Or do you need my help?”
player response differs according to what the player chose at the abbey: 1. “I cannot determine whether your daughter is a holy woman or not, but many believe so. But I am certain that she has been intertwined in the violent conflict that ravages this land. I believe that your daughters life is threatened by both the Guelf and Ghibelline leagues. I need a company of forty horsemen to rescue the young Lady Katarina and bring her home.” 2. “I am certain that the church only want to make sure your daughter is safe, she is precious to them. But I suspect a danger from a Ghibelline noble. I need a company of twenty horsemen to make sure your daughter reaches Milan safely.” 3. “I am certain that the pope and the Guelfs plan to murder your daughter. They will then canonize her as a saint and use her profecies for their own ends. But there is a Ghibelline noble willing to guarantee the safety of your daughter. He needs our help so I must ask for twenty horsemen to make sure Katarina reaches Pavia safely.”
Ulrich von Sponheim response: „Anything to save her life. Take command of as many of my men as you like. They will meet you at the city gates, my son Mannfred will lead them.” (end of conversation) player gets a free mercenary cavalry party, led by a sponheim knight at the requested size(20/40)
The End At day nine after player left the bobbio abbey or got protect/rescue quest, two parties spawn. Fabbro Polentas party with 15 papal knights and 15 guelf infantry, the priest Alfonso and sister Faustina. They spawn very close to the abbey and will travel towards Milan. Marcus Beccarias party with 25 ghibelline knights and the priest Miguel. they spawn near the abbey and they will follow and attack Fabbro’s party-then take faustina prisoner and go to Pavia. (if the player defeat Fabbro’s party without being allied with Marcus, then marcus will go for the player) According to which side the player chose there should be some “hallo, lets go on” dialogue with the allied party. The “Protect.....” mission end succesful when Faustina reaches Milan. Then a large xp bonus and + relations with papal and guelf. The “Rescue....” mission end succesful when Faustina reaches Pavia. Then a large xp bonus and + relations with ghibelline and imperial.
The “debt of honor” quest end when the player at last returns to Ulrich von Sponheim. If returning with his daughter he will congratulate and give a large gold and xp reward. +relations with imperials and nobles in trent and player home town. quest succeeded
If returning without his daughter....................... when dialogue is initiated: “YOU are here.....” according to whom the player supported/quest taken: Protect quest. “Yes, I am here to inform you that your daughter have safely reached Milan.” Rescue quest. “Yes, I am here to inform you that the Lady Katarina have safely reached Pavia.”
(and then it is revealed/hinted that both ghib and guelf lied to-and used the player)
Ulrich response: Protect q: “You betrayed her! She was killed by a Ghibelline assasin the moment she entered the castle. She is dead. Now the pope will canonize her into a saint, all the guelf rebels and traitors are talking of her revelations and miracles, how a german should foresee the death of our Emperor! How she was killed by a ghib and imperial agent. You are a traitor or you are a fool. You must answer to me and mine, I demand satisfaction. You will fight Katarinas brother, Mannfred von Sponheim. Go outside now. Prepare.” (duel and quest failed, -relations with ghib, imperials, and with nobles in player hometown and in Trent. )
Rescue q: “SAFELY!, you complete fool, traitor. You betrayed her! The moment she entered the church in Pavia she was arrested for witchcraft. They killed her, burned her. My daughter, burned because of you. And now, the peasants, they talk of how my daughter was a guelf witch! I demand satisfaction from you miserable human. Prepare to meet Katarinas brother in battle, Mannfred von Sponheim. Go!” (duel and quest failed, -relations with guelf, papal and nobles in hometown and Trent.)
The duel could be a one on one with a Sponheim lvl 30 knight. If lost, nothing is taken but –relations with nobles. If won, +relations with nobles.
Noble prisoners? it is possible in the battles of the ending to capture up to four characters. The two priests and the two noble leaders. Maybe thay could be ransomed to their enemies or something?
This was very long I know.

Here's a short quest that easily could be used several times. It has two possible endings and three characters(quest giver, kidnapped, kidnapper). It’s a romeo&julie alike story, where the julie character has “kidnappet” romeo. Actually they have run away together to get married and leave the country. The player is hired at a tavern to bring back the young man. When meeting the runaways party the player can let them go/get paid to let them go-or fight them and take them both prisoner. The only thing dependent on player level is the bandit party size and the xp rewards.
Here’s the dialogue in which the quest giver is the servant of Fabbro Lambertazzi from Bologne, the kidnapped is his son Fredo. The kidnapper is Maria, the daughter of Filippone de Longosco of Pavia.
At Bologna tavern is a agent for the Lambertazzi family. When the player initiate dialoge: “Ah you there, yes you come here, I’m looking for someone just like you. You see, I am the servant of the great noble Fabbro Lambertazzi of this town, and he need your help with a small matter. You’l be paid good money for this, you are a sword for hire arn’t you?” player response: 1. “I am for hire yes, what do you need and what do you pay?” 2. “Sorry, your mistake.” (end of conversation)
servant response to 1: “I thought as much, now you may have heard of my masters son, Fredo. He is a very confused and weakwilled young man. Well, this fine young man have got his family into a rather embarrassing situation, he has gone and got himself kidnapped by his fathers most loyal and persistent enemy, the renown noble Filippone de Langosco of Pavia. Could perhaps a thousand gold coins persuade you to go and rescue this young man of the city?”
player response: “Perhaps, perhaps not. This sound a little dangerous, fishy or both. Why do your great and noble master need me? Why can’t he send out his own knights?”
servant response: “Hm... as I said, it is a embarassing situation, it’s no harm that I tell you of it, a few hours in this tavern and you would hear about it anyway. My masters son has a very great weakness for a young noble lady of the de Langosco family. Apparently, against all rational thought, her father must have arranged this kidnapping and approved of their relationship. Now young Fredo will be forced to enter this Ghibelline family, and against his own family’s wishes. Or even worse, he could willingly enter the union with his fathers enemies. This must not happen, in all secrecy you must bring young Fredo back here. Will you do this?”
player response: 1. “I will bring the young man back to his own.” 2. “This does not concern me.”
servant response: 1. “Excellent, he was taken only two hours ago by party of ruffians, they are surely on their way to Pavia right now, waste not a minute.” (end of conversation) 2. “Oh but it should, if your loyalty lie with the Guelf League. Perhaps they do not...” (end of conversation)
Now a party spawns close to Bologne, heading for Pavia. A slow moving party of somekind of bandits, and two characters: the lady Maria de Langosco and Fredo Lambertazzi. They will fight and talk together. when meeting the party, Fredo will speak: “Halt there and fear not, our comrades might look like villains and thieves but they are not. We are peaceful ttravelers like you..?”
player response: 1. “Your father, Fabbro Lambertazzi have sent me to bring you back. Will your peaceful company let me take you back?” 2. “You travel freely with your enemy? Explain yourself!” 3. “Like me. farewell.” (end of conversation)
Fredo&Maria response to 1&2. “No, I travel freely with my soon to be wife, lady Maria de Longosco, and these are our loyal friends. No one shall prevent us from becoming man and wife....” Maria breaks in: “We have left both our families as none approve of our love. We will marry and then leave this torn land. No one family shall gain from this, only lose. You cannot prevent this loss, we will fight to the death in our own cause. Will you return emptyhanded or with our dead bodies, that is your decision.”
player response: 1. “I care not for sentimentality only for gold. I’m being paid a thousand gold coins for the return of Fredo Lambertazzi. Now surrender or get hurt lady, your sweet dream is over.” 2. “There is no reason in killing you both, go then. hurry up.” Maria response: 1. “Only a thousand.... we can pay you the same, only say that you didn’t catch our trail....” 2. “A blessing on your kind heart.” (end of conversation, xp reward) player response to 1: 1. “Once bought, my loyalty is certain, no deal.” 2. “I could say that I think, You had better hurry up then.” Maria response: 1. “As you wish....” (fight begins) 2. “Thank you, we will.” (end of conversation.) (player get 1000 gold, minor xp reward)
If there is no fight, the quest is lost when their party reaches Pavia. If the fight is won, it’s possible to take prisoner the couple.
Back in Bologne. Servant, when initiating dialogue: if back without prisoners: “You are back alone, you failed. Very well, this will certainly be noticed.” (end of conversation) if back with prisoners: “I see you also brought that lovesick lady with you, this is excellent, my master will be pleased. Here you deserve a bonus.” (quest won, player get 1200 gold & xp reward)
if returningwithoutr prisoners the players noble relations should suffer (maybe the burghers like the idea of the players actions & better relations)

Hallo, here’s another very short quest, that could be reused many times with different names. It is a very simple story. A young noble knight is in love with a young noble lady. The one thing that stands in the way of matrimonial happiness is the lady’s grumpy father. He wants a knightly warrior son, not a sentimental weakling like the one in question. To convince his love’s father that he is a worthy and brutal fighter, he has to win the fair tournament(the lists). He ask the player to take his place in the lists(the player will be dressed up in the nobles armor and colors.) In the end, if winning the lists, the player can chose to hold the agreement and pretend to be another, or to admit the fraud and take the glory and prize for him/herself. There is only one active character in this quest, and that is the quest giver, the knight.
I think this should be a quest for any level player but before becoming a freeman/citizen. Some of the fun and appeal in this mission, is to be able to wear noble heraldry and fight in the lists before actually becoming a noble and acquiring the top-tier equipment.(if it is possible to equip the player with this for a fair.)
And here is the dialogue, in which the knight is Pablo Manfredi from Faenza, his love is the lady Anna Rossi from Parma.
Tourney
At the March Fair, the noble Pablo Manfredi waits. (looks like a civilian, not wearing his armor)When player initiates dialogue: “Hallo there, you look like a able warrior, might I lend your ear for a moment?”
player response: 1. “You may, you do look troubled, tell me......” 2. “Sorry but you may not, I have no time.” (end of conversation)
Pablo response to 1: “I am very troubled, you are right. You see I am betrothed to the sweetest and most lovable lady in all of Lombardy. The lady Anna Rossi. But as you might know, her father is a quite simpleminded brute. He cares not that I am very rich and very able in the more nonpractical aspects of noble duties. All he cares for is common strength, a virtue found in both animals and commoners as well as nobles. He cannot grasp the idea that a being noble is more than having skill with a lance or sword. He opposes our marriage. But, he has promised her daughter that she can chose her own husband, but he has also demanded that this husband must be a able knight. He demand that I win the noble lists in this fair. As you see, I am no fighter, I need your help. Could you, in all secrecy, take my place in the lists? Wear my armor and shield, use my lance and sword. Conquer the lists in my name. I am very wealthy and will reward you greatly, but the honor of winning the tournament must be mine, not yours..........”
player response: 1. “This is the most dishonorable proposal I have ever heard, Are you even a man? How can you pretend to be a noble or a good husband, if your’e willing to base the entire marriage on a lie? I must decline to help you.” (end of conversation) 2. “Perhaps I could help, you can have the honor of winning, but what of the prize money?”
Pablo response: 2. “Oh thank you so much, when you have won, you’l keep the prize money, as a small token of my gratitude. Here lets walk a little, over there is my equipment, wear it and fight for me now.” (end of conversation) When the quest is accepted, the player can wear the noble armor and fight in the list. If winning, then a new dialogue option could appear before receiving the reward: 1. “Stop this charade, actually I must admit I am not the knight Pablo Manfredi, I am (player name) and the honor of this victory is rightly my own.” 2. “I am Pablo Manfredi, excuse me for not removing my helmet.”
After the list fights, the player loses the noble armor again.
The quest is lost if the player either loses the lists, or chose dialogue option 1 above. The quest is won, is lists are won and dialogue option 2 is chosen above. The reward should be the xp and gold reward of winning the lists.

The search for Helen von Andechs
This is a quest for a 9+ level player, It has two different solutions and is a investigation quest with a fight in the end. The player is hired to discover the fate of Helen von Andechs, the daughter of Heinrich. She has been kidnappet and killed by the newly returned madman son of the Romano marquis. This son is a mass murderer who already have killed hundreds of people from the towns and villages around his fathers castle. He has hired some venice slavetraders to supply him with victims. The player can solve this in two ways: 1. Travel around, listening to rumour and meeting the sole survivor from Helens party. Then go back and report to Heinrich in Trent. In the end there will be a battle between the imperial army of von Andechs and the Romano. OR 2. Go to Venice and meet Helens mother who is plotting to kill all those involved in her daughters death. Then the player will have to slaughter the slave traders.
besides the quest giver Heinrich, there are two new characters, the lady Mary von Andechs in Venice city hall and the surviving servant at Treviso tavern(he is now helping the old lady von Andechs) Talking to one of these is necessary to conclude that the villain is Romano.
Then there is a lot of rumours to be heard from the armorers and weaponsmiths, these are actually not necessary but I thought they would make the story a bit more immersive. And here is all the text/dialogue for the quest............................................................
The start When player enters Trent, a text box appear: “as you enter the city you overhear the gate guards discussing a two thousand denar reward offered by Heinrich von Andechs.”
Heinrich von Andechs in Trent. When initiating dialogue: “Are you here about the reward?” player response: “Perhaps, please tell me what it is about, mylord.” Heinrich response: “It is very inconvinient and troubling matter, my youngest daughter, Helen, have disappeared. She was probably taken and killed by brigands.................. A week ago she left for Venice, she was to meet the man to whom I had decide she should marry. She left with only a few knights and her favorite servant, a man known as Heinrich. They were going to meet some noble friends of Helens on the way, so their route would be from here to Vicenza, then on to Treviso, then Padua and at last Venice. It is possible that they also visited Verona, I do not know. This morning I got a messege from Venice that Helen never arrived. With all the brigands and thieves on the road, I fear that my daughters escort have been inadequate. I cannot believe the nerve they must have had, to attack a party of imperial knights........... It’s outrageous! I want you to discover what has happened to my daughter. I want you to save her if possible, if she is dead already you must punish the brigands responsible. Oh and of course, if cannot take on the responsible, come back here and I will take care of it. If you bring her back if alive or discover who killed her, I will reward you with two thousand denars.” player response: 1. “I am sorry about your loss, but I cannot take this assignment. Goodbye.”(end of conversaton) 2. “I will leave at once to rescue young Helen or discover who prevented her meeting with her betrothed.”(end of conversation)
The rumours: 2 in Verona ”I heard the strangest news from Venice, a whole shipload of lombard peasants, maids and servants left for Africa. Some very excentric African queen is offering very good wages to anyone willing to travel to and live with her heathen court.”
“In these times of war no one is safe, warlike or peaceful all are downtrodden by the brigand boot. If we survive the war, we must then defend our lives and livelihood against the nobility’s greed and cruelty. If we manage that, we must then dodge all the ambitious intriges of our future lords and masters-the prosperous merchants. In between all this war, oppression and intrigues of future oppressors, one must raise a family and earn a living and maybe even dare to try to keep a bit of happiness in life. Then comes along a smoothfaced sweettalker and completes turns the head of all your family, next you know you must fund your only daughter’s to travel to Africa! This complete scoundrel promised my daughter a position as court lady at a queens court at a outrageously high pay, they left for Venice right away. Will we ever know what happened to her?”
2 in Padua “Very few left to gossip around here........... you know last week a very exotic and foreign caravan came through the local villages, very few women left to gossip there is...yes. You see the caravan leader was extremely persueasive when offering jobs to the young women. I don’t know what evil spirit possessed them, but they left to be the court maids at some African queens court. Pure nonsense I say....”
“Oh these are sad times indeed, this war and all this hatred among us lombards. It drives the young people away, at least those with any sense in them. Leaves for foreign countries they do, a clearer sky and the precious jewel of peace. Who wouldnt’? I know I would if I had the age. Just the other day we said farewell to my aunts brothers daughter. She left for Africa, to serve with the queen down there she is...isn’t that something?”
2 in Treviso “Strange going on’s in the country. Villagers have disappeared at night. Only a few from each village, young women most of them. I’ve heard the same happened some weeks ago in Verona and Padua, and also in Vicenza. Maybe the Venice slave traders are making and extra profit. But that thing in Vicenza thats probably that damned beast the young Romano. I dare not repeat the blooddripping stories I’ve heard of that particular noble.”
“Damm those slave traders and raiders, damm them and their cruel souls. Young women from the villages have been kidnappet in the night, everybody else severely beaten or killed. It’s horribel, slavery should be criminal and it’s absolutely horribel. They even attacked a small party escoted by imperial knights from Trent, left one survivor though.”
2 in Vicenza “Who cares to gossip in times like these..... Not even our city walls or city rights can protect us. We’re the prey of of the predatory cannibalistic......... I dare not speak his name out loud, but you must know the nearby lord I mean. At first he preyed only on the peasants, but now doors are bashed in by axemen in the night. Nobody dare to intervine as every witness is cut down by these feudal brigands. Already five homes have been ravaged like this, the daughters of the city being taken away to a uncertain fate. Nobody can do anything, no one dares........”
“Well among all the horrobel crimes inside this town, some outside events are still strange enough to be noticed by our haunted citizens. Some farmers saw a Venice ship disembark a lot of passengers and mercenaries out at the coast to the east, now if that doesn’t sound like strange and foul business what does?”
The survivor, the coward In Treviso tavern, Heinrich the servant. When initiating dialogue: “A thinnish well dressed young man greets you with a bleak smile, his recently torn clothes and his week old bruises suggest a recent violent experience.......He speaks: I am Heinrich from Trent, and you...?” player response: “I am (player name), good to finaly meet you Heinrich, you are Heinrich the servant of Helen von Andechs from Trent, are you not?” Heinrich response: “You are correct, I am he, but I fear only the former servant of the young lady Andechs.” player response: “If you say so, I fear you might be right in that assumption. But please explain what happened.”
Heinrich response: “Ah yes, It’s a sad tale, but even worse is the fact that it is a very common tale these days....... We left Trent and travelled to Padua without any trouble. The young lady was very excited about seeing her betrothed and maybe a little scared also.... Who know what goes on in a carefree young noble mind like hers..... Well we decided to rest for the night in Padua, and thats were we meet him, Fernando. He was holding a kind of public meeting at the tavern when we arrived. He was hireing maids for some african court. He was a real sweettalker and smoothface, turned the head of the young women at the inn he did. Then he saw my lady. I swear, at that momemt his face changed and his eyes were like that of a starving beast. He introduced himself to my lady, tried his smooth tricks with her he did. But Helen von Andechs is a real lady, she didn’t even look at him. Only asked me to remove the commoner out of smells reach she did. Now that made Fernando turn into a rage, swore that my lady would pay dearly for her arrogance, said she would learn what it meant to be a servant he did. Now we threw him out of the tavern and thought no more of it. The next day, only a short while out of Padua a large party of brigands overwhelmed us, everybody was cut down, slaughtered like animals. Only the women were spared, and I well, they thought me dead. They left with the maids and my lady as prisoners, I swear that Fernando was their leader, and I swear I heard him say that Alberto Romano would be pleased with noble meat. I swear it that is what I heard.”
player response: “It’s been more than a week since the attack on your party, you are clearly not injured beyond travel. Why have you not gone back to Trent to report what happened? The young lady’s family is worried, they sent me to investigate.”
Heinrich response: “You mean her father sent you..... I am not employed by my namebrother Heinrich von Andechs but by the lady Mary von Andechs, Helens mother. I can’t go to old Heinrich and tell him how I threw myself to the ground, smeared blood all over me and pretended to be dead. I’m a coward I admit it, but now I am trying to help best I can, I am more use to my lady here, than I would be being whipped to death in Trent.”
player response: “What delusion is upon you.....what use are you here in a tavern?”
Heinrich response: “I’m under no obligation to answer your indiscrete questions, I am the servant of Lady Mary von Andechs, presently she is in Venice and it might be illuminating for you to go there.”
player response: “Hrm..I see farewell then.” (end of conversation) (now two new dialogue options is possible,1 with Heinrich von Andechs-“romano is the responsible...” and 2 with romano marquis-“your son...”)
Lady Mary von Andechs, Venice city hall when player initiates dialogue: “You see a very old, allmost ancient looking noble lady dressed in the colours of von Andechs. She has a very determined look about her. She greets you : you must be (player name), my husbond Heinrich’s mercenary. Sent to save our youngest daughter, a bit late of my dear Heinrich.”
player response: “You confuse me lady, surely you must also want me to save your daughter?”
Mary response: “Oh I did want that at first, but now it is too late. Do you think I have been idle for a week, with my daughter missing. I left imediately with my own men, I am of the ancient de Haga line and I have my own resources. Now I have discovered that old Romano’s devil child Alberto is ultimately responsible, but where my husbond care for satisfaction for his honor, I care for revenge. When you go and tell Heinrich of my findings, he will equip his men and take to the field. The Romano’s will do the same, then hundreds of men will kill and maim each other, without any substantial purpose. Naturally my husbonds imperial knights will win, and Heinrich will be satisfied with releasing Alberto for a ransom. Not one single Romano men at arms is guilty of Alberto’s crimes, Alberto’s accomplishes is not among the soldiers but among the stinking slavetraders of this town.............” (now two new dialogue options is possible,1 with Heinrich von Andechs-“romano is the responsible...” and 2 with romano marquis-“your son...”)
player response: 1. I see, the Romano’s. I guess your word will be enough for your husbond. Farewell lady. 2. I am confused yet. I don’t understand, why did Romano do it, why are the slave traders responsible? 3. Hmm I also believe in revenge being the more important, can I assist you in your revenge lady von Andechs? Mary response: 1. Farewell and tell my husbond not to interfere with my plans. (end of conversation) 2. I have no time or inclination to enlighten you further, return if you wish to assist me in my bloody rightous scheme.(end of conversaton) 3. I am in need of a butcher, I mean yes, you can assist me greatly. There is grim work at hand, work that I dare not lay into my capatains honoroble hands. I have made some arrangements wich will make sure that all of the villains will be at one certain place at a certain time. There is only one problem, these scoundrels and villains, even though they are evil, they are probably mostly unarmed and unable to defend themselves, and they are some very important and influential merchants from fair Venice. It will be a quite unhonoroble butchery......
player response to 3. 1. Stop this, there is no need for you to continue, I will not kill unarmed merchants, slavetraders or not. I must say I prefer your husbonds inclination to fight honorobly on the field. Goodbye lady. (end of conversation) 2. Please continue lady, before the execution I would like to know the extent of these peoples crime.
Mary response to 2. “And the executioner shall know of the condemneds abominable crime. My daughter are not their only victim, I believe that Alberto Romano and his brothers in crime have at least two hundred innnocent lives to account for. Alberto is the fourth son of old Romano, he has always been a ruffian and a sadist. Nine years ago, this feudal brigand raided a party of nuns and monks. All of the monks were slaughtered and the nuns mutilated to death by Alberto himself. Even his own knights were so horrified by this, that they told his father. Alberto was then sent away to the holy land, to live there like a monk, and fight the heathens as a penance for nine years. Three months ago he returned. It is obvious that he still thirsts for women blood. At first he bought his victims from the Venice slave traders. When the doge discovered to who and with what purpose the merchants were selling female slaves, he made a act, that forbids to sell slaves to certain death. This was quite a problem for Alberto, but the slick slave traders found a solution. Now a exotic caravan roam the nearby towns, this is led by a charismatic villain by the name Fernado. He lures the town and peasant daughters with him, he sweettalk them into believing that he can get them good work at high pay at a foreign court. After passing through a area, he send out his brigands to kidnap those young women who did not go willingly with him. When prisoners are gathered they go to Venice and embark for Africa, in reality they embark for the coast east of the Romano’s castle. What Alberto Romano does to his victims in the castle dungeon is to revolting to describe, but no one survives. In these days there is a funeral pyre each morning outside the castle, a pyre of innocents................ As I said my men and women have made sure that the responsible slave traders will go with the next shipment, they think Romano want to reward them personally. They leave tomorrow morning and will disembark up north in the afternoon. I want you to make sure that every last one of them is dead before they reach the Romano’s castle. I will personally make sure Alberto pay dearly for his crimes.”
player response: “Then I must prepare at once. Farewell lady, revenge will be yours.”
Mary response: “I know, and you must know that my name must never be connected with your bloody business. When you are done, go to my husbond and he will reward you in all discretion. Godspeed.” (end of conversation)
Romano castle, a new dialogue option with the marquis: “I have come here to discuss your son, he has comitted horrible crimes.............” Marquis response: “Obstinate peasant, how dare you approach me with talk that, as if you were my equal and not the insect you are. Leave at once or I will unleash the dogs.” (end of conversation)
the two endings: 1. Taking to the field. Reporting to H von Andechs in Trent. When initiating dialogue: “And who are you...... oh you are the one I sent to........ Well what have you discovered?” player response: “Your daughter, the lady Helen von Andechs have been kidnappet just outside Treviso, she were brought to Alberto Romano by the brigands.” heinrich response: “Alberto Romano, has it really been nine years since....... well he is a dishonest and cruel one, even among villains. You have performed this task splendidly and you have earned your reward. Now I must prepare my troops for battle, we march on Romano castle. I hearby invite you to join me in the field. We leave in the early morning.” player response: 1. “I must decline as I have more pressing matters... godspeed.” 2. “Very well I will prepare for battle against this villainous noble.”
No matter what the player choses the mission is won and the reward is 2000 gold and 2000xp.
next morning 2 parties spawn. The army of Heinrich von Andechs and the Army of Alberto Romano. The Romano army will patrol around Romano castle and the imperial von Andechs army will go for the Romano army. The imperial army should be strong enough to defeat Alberto without the players help. If the player does not intevine the imperials will win and take alberto as prisoner back to Trent. If the player intervine in the battle(player is of course allied with the von andechs/imperial army), then after the fight(with alberto as prisoner) when talking to Heinrichs party: heinrich say: “Thank you for your help (player name), you certainly have a great and noble future ahead. Here let me compensate you for your prisoner take these 2000 denars.” player response: “Thank you Sir, it was my pleasure to crush this scoundrel.”
player get another 2000 gold and better relations with imperials, the town of Trent and nobles. prisoner lost.
2. Revenge on the Venice slave traders. If the player chose to be the old lady’s instrument of revenge. the next day, at afternoon a small party will spawn at the coast as close to castle Romano as possible. It will be a part of 22 town men(the merchants) and maybe 5 town watch. They have 20 female peasant prisoners. They will wait until evening and then travel slowly towards Romano castle.
When the player meet them: “you meet a large party of welldressed and very well nourished merchants, they are escorted by only five guards and a large group of chained female prisoners. The most welldressed of the merchants approach you and speak: Hallo there traveller, we are peaceful merchants from Venice and I am Fernando the sixth son of the Venice Doge, please remove yourself from the road and let us pass.”
player respnse: 1. “Excuse me Sir, go on your business.” (end of conversaton) 2. “You are not peaceful travellers, you are the most disgusting scoundrels I have ever heard of. It will be my great pleasure to cut you all down and free your prisoners.”
Fernando response to 2: Are you mad, we are civilians, merchants, we have no weapons. Take us prisoner and charge us in the Venice courts if you must............................... Or perhaps we could pay you to let us pass....Surely you are not the kind who slaughter the defenseless?”
player response: 1. “I imagine that if I had to count to...lets say 5000, you could get clear away.......” 2. “I despise you and your kind, merchants and thieves dealing in human lives, slavery is a horrendous crime but legal. The only punishment you will ever get in this life, is the one I deal out right now.” (fight)
Fernando response to1: “5000 denars it is then. Here take them and start counting.”(player get 5000 gold) player response: 1. “Thank you..... one two three four five thousand... why aren’t you away? Too late now fight!” (fight) 2. “Thank you very much. Now leave............” (end of conversation, mission lost)
After the fight, the player should report to von Andechs in Trent. When initiating dialogue with Heinrich: “You are back, already I have heard from my dear resourceful wife what the truth of this unfortunate matter is. Have you completed what my wife asked of you.....in all discretion and please no details.” player response: “I dealt out justice, it was a mess but it is done.” Heinrich response: “Excellent, here is your reward, I am in your debt now. Especially if keep this secret, it was some very influential person you dealt with, as you know. Goodday to you.”(end of conversation)
Mission won, 2000 xp and 2000 gold received. better relations with Trent and nobles. Worse relations with burghers and nobles of Venice.

grendel,
Great quests as usual! They're rather complicated, so it's taking me some time to script them. But I've got two (simple ones) up and running already -- Lady Rose and the Duel at Mantua.
I want your quests to repeat themselves rather than be one-offs, so I have changed a few things, e.g. it picks a random town rather than the specific one you mention. But don't worry about changing the way you present them. Precise is good. I can adjust my way around it.
The way I'm currently designing this, one of your quests will be randomly spawned every few days in a random town. You won't know which quest or where the quest-giver is. You stumble upon them. Or you can search out clues by talking with people.

Khalid, Thanks, I'm very glad they will be used in the game. I didn't imagine that you would be able to randomize them, but thats just fantastic. If there is anything I can do to help make the quests easier for you to work with, let me know. (actually I have no idea what is difficult to mod and what is not.) Oh, and the real world is really insisting on my attention these days, so it will be a two weeks time before I can write another suggestion.

Even though I don't have the time, I simply cannot help myself, here's three more very simple quests.
Short and Simple, a consul, a bailiff and a count quest.
I just took a look at the last days mod, and there were some very nice “defeat as many as possible of a specific enemy party type” quests. Heres two similar simple quests.
Disrupt enemy trade. Given by any city consul when asked of a service(a guelf in this): “Actually yes, there are a service you could perform for the city. The war effort demand that we consider some more indirect assaults on the enemy. Our foremost enemy among the ghibellines is of course (nearest ghib town name), now we want to make certain that the tax rate of our enemy remain intolerably high. To meet this end, someone must undertake to continually disrupt their trade. This means to capture as many ghibelline caravans enroute to (nearest ghib town name) as possible. This might not be the most honorable or glorious mission, but it is nonetheless very important and will be appreciated fully by this city. We will pay you 300 denars for every caravan you stop, up to a maximum prise of 3000 denars. Return and report to me when you are satisfied with your results, but return within nine days.”
player answers: 1. I like this idea of attacking where it’s important and they are weak. I shall leave at once. 2. Do you take me for a simple brigand. If I would assault innocent travelers I would be no better than such. Your suggestion insults me. consul answers: 1. Good, much depend on this mission. Make haste. 2. My apologies Sir, I did not take you for a simpleminded knight, I thought you were clever enough to see the reason in this. My apologies and farewell. (mission not taken) 1&2:end of conversation.
The mission is to defeat between one and ten ghibellines caravan enroute to the enemy city, within nine days.
When returning to the consul: If successful: “Aha your back, excellent work. I hear the bailiff of (nearest ghib town name) is already considering both a tax raise and a emergency extra tax. That will hurt our enemy in their greedy black hearts. You have deserved our gratitude and your reward.” If unsuccessful: “Hah, what kind of a soldier are you...not even one caravan captured, what did you do... sit in a tavern all the time?”
mission won and 300 denars and 300 xp pr defeated caravan.(+relations with consul’s city and –relations with the enemy city)
Protect trade. Given by any city bailiff when asked of a service: “Lately our countryside has been overrun by bandits and brigands, outlaws. They prey on our heartblood, our peasants and our trade. The result are rising taxes and rising prices within the city. If this continues without pause for much longer will will have a regular crisis on our hands, there will be food riots. I want someone to lead a armed party, to hunt the brigands without pause for the next few days. They must have no rest to attack our trade or peasants. Are you that someone?”
player answers: 1. I certainly am, I presume there is some reward............... 2. I have no time for this, hunting for thieves, thats like fighting rogue or runaway peasants. Anybody could do that and I won’t. bailiff answers: 1. There certainly is a reward, return in three days and I will pay you 200 denars for every party of (type of local bandits) that you defeat. Now leave.......... 2. What arrogant stupidity, well that will certainly be remembered around here. Farewell. 1&2 end of conversation.
The mission is to defeat between 1 and 10 parties of somekind of appropriate bandits, within 3 days.
When returning to the bailiff: If successful: Ahh there you are, I was expecting you. You really are the hero of the day on the marketplace. Theres plenty of food around the stalls and prices are dropping as fast as the merchants conscience allow them to. Here’s your well deserved reward.” If unsuccessful: Ahh there you, I really did not expect you to report back to me. Did you pass the marketplace on your way...did you see the blood on the streets? There were riots on account of the food shortage and the extreme prices.......... If I were you I would leave town quickly and discretely, before anyone recognize you.
if won the reward is 200 denars and 200 xp pr bandit party defeated.+relations with city, peasants and burghers. if lost relations with city, peasants and burghers worsen.
Kidnap rogue noble This is about kidnapping the son of the foremost ghib/guelf noble of the league capital. The son of either the Milan guelf Pagano della Torre OR the ghib Giovanni Beccaria from Pavia. The young noble has severely insulted many people and broken many laws. He is being brought to a friendly court to be tried. The guelf noble is being brought to Ravenna and the ghib noble to Trent. The quest giver want the trial to take place in the other town to ensure capital punishment(I think the quest giver could be almost any noble regardless of faction). The player is hired to assault the imperial or papal party and bring the prisoner to the opposing town. This should be for a high level, maybe freeman/citizen player.
here’s the dialogue in which the quest giver is the Count Orgogliosi of Forli and the target is Miguel della Torre of Milan, and the judge is Bernhardt of Bamberg in Trent. When player initiates dialogue with the count Orgogliosi: “I have a favor to ask of you, a difficult one. Very delicate also, you might actually get into some trouble with some, lets say very papist minded people. A lot of trouble in fact, and a very generous reward of 5000 newly minted gold coins might come your way. Thats all you can know in advance.......what say you?”
player response: 1. This does not sound like a honest or decent proposal, I must refuse with all respect. 2. Five thousand.... thats exactly the price for my conscience today, go on........... count response: 1. With respect then, I bid you a good day. (end of conversation) 2. Very good, then listen, you probably know of the infamous fourth son of Pagano della Torre of Milan. This wretched man, Miguel della Torre has broken every conceivable law of civilized man. He has raided villages and caravans, even his own peasants he sell into slavery. He behaves as if he was one of the marquis’, living in the past as lord of the county. Pillaging and robbing as if it were his birthright. Now finally his very powerful father has come to reason with this. He has agreed that his son be tried by a neutral outsider, a certain Fabbro, a vatican judge presently visiting Ravenna. This socalled neutral judge is of course one of old Pagano della Torre’s friends and ally’s, and Miguel will never be punished for his crimes. Miguel della Torre has personally killed one of my daughters and her betrothed from a very important family. I want that man to face justice. I want you to intercept the papal party escorting Miguel from Milan to Ravenna. Then you must bring Miguel to Trent. These days Bernard, a imperial judge is there, he will know what to do with that criminal. Now go and prepare, Miguel leaves Milan in two days.
player response to 2: “You can safely trust me with your vengeance, Miguel della Torre will be punished for his crimes, no matter how influential his father is.”
Two days after this, a party spawns at Milan(Miguel della Torre and 15 papal knights) they travel to ravenna. The mission is to capture Miguel before he reaches ravenna, if he does the mission is lost. To win he must be brought to the judge in Trent.
Meeting the party of Miguel della Torre, Miguel speaks: “Halt there and state your business, I am Miguel della Torre and if these knights escorting me were my own men, you would be in trouble.” player response: 1. I am (player name), I just wish to pass peacefully. 2. I am (player name), and your escort will not prevent me from dragging you to the justice you deserve........ Miguel response: 1. Hmph! This time you may pass then. (end of conversation) 2. The only justice that has ever existed is the one I and my kind define. Meet your end peasant... (fight begins)
If won, after the fight Miguel says: “It is your lucky day it seems, well I have yet to see a man brave enough to condemn me. You may lead the way, you miserable commoner.”
Meeting the judge Bernard of Bamberg in Trent castle: “(player name) you have been expected for some time, and you have brought the criminal I see, that is most excellent, my old friend Orgogliosi have told me of this particular specimen, not much to consider in this case I think. Well but that is none of your business. Here is the reward my friend promised you.”
mission won and reward of 5000 gold and 2000 xp. +relations with questgivers city and imperials. –relations with papal and Milan.

A quest idea i've had:
When you're fairly high level, and a knight and stuff, the Count of a town may give you a quest to teach his son (a squire) a thing or two about being a knight. Basically, he starts off at level 3, and you have to keep him in your party till he's level 12. Then you return him to the count (or he exits the party on his own accord) and then you get rewarded.
Oh, and also, There could be a few more contrada captain/noble quests too. Just scenarios where you are on the defensive, etc.
As a member of a contrada: Having to defend something from another contrada, or engaging in a three way battle between other contrada (two are fighting, and your captain goes for an opportunistic strike), or perhaps some buildings are about to be attacked by nobles who want to turn it into another piazza.
As a noble: Defending your own tower from the other nobles, or from a particular contrada. Failure in the outdoor space results in having to defend the tower from the inside. Also, attacks on various contrade (or whatever the hell the plural of contrada is), where you and your nobles just beat up burghers. More threeway fights; attacking other nobles and burghers already in city brawl.

Would there be any way to convert cities to certain factions? Example you could have missions which would require you to convert it to Ghibelline or Guelf depending on your faction and level. Also these missions would vary depending on you rank, using politics, religion or force. Invasion 1066, i think is one of the other mods that found a way of attacking villages, you could perhaps tweak this to make it more complex and appropirate for the time. (maybe only have this possibility when you are the podesta' or bishop of a town, and then you can start to worry about intercity feuds!) Maybe you have to bring a bishiop/noble of your faction in your party to the town/castle/village with you and if you win the battle the noble/bishiop appoints himself head of the town and glory is upon you. If you lose the battle, the bishiop/noble is captured and shame falls upon you.

If the arena can be made to be used in quests, it might be interesting to have a noble give a quest along the lines of "my daughter was dishonored by Luigi the Amorous who convinced her he was a tournament champion and the bed her. If you end his tournament by defeating him, I will make it worth your while..."
Having 1 or 2 lesser opponents to defeat prior to drawing Luigi further along the tournament ladder would be best, but a single match would work if scripting demanded it.
If the actual arena can't be scripted that way, can a special "battlefield" be forced when Luigi is either spoken to or encountered just outside of town?
------------
Idea 2: A interesting quest to encourage exploration and to work on while doing other things would be to have a quest given to locate Francesco the Fraudulent who cheated a noblewoman out of some money and "has fled this city, though he is sure to be found near his passion - wine (in a tavern)." The player would search taverns in towns he visits with Francesco spawning in a random tavern (if possible) or moving from town to town. Introducing dialog for tavern keepers as to his whereabouts would be good, if possible.

One idea:I know France had no quarell with the Lombard League. But we also know that the League's political intrigues can be used in your own favour. For example,if ya are surrounded by neutral or enemy city-states, ya can receive a quest in which ya are asked to quickly find a possible ally.France was already a great power under kings like Phillip 2.Even if France had no interests in the North Italian territory,in the quest you can ask for their alliance.Or the dukes of Anjou-Sicily[Phillip 2's own brother,Charles, had interests in South],or the Spanish[Kingdom of Aragon].If ya decide to make France your ally it will be hard to convince the king to spare troops for ya,taking into consideration that duke of Anjou is battling the Muslims, the Byzantines and even Italians in Sicily. Thus it would be easier to convince the Pope to use his relations to reach a temporary peace agreement in Sicily,as the French can now accept your proposal.Sorry for my English,I'm Romanian.Oh,and sorry for the unfinished idea.

Your suggestion goes a little beyond the map (which ends at Ravenna in the south and Ivrea in the west). And you're always surrounded by enemy cities (league alliances are designed that way ). The timing is still too early and the land still too fragmented for such a big endeavor. At present, Pope (& Normans) and Emperor (& Germans) are still being kept at bay by the cities. The only other foreign power which is playing an 'active' role are the Magyars (who are opportunistically lining themselves up with a putative Italian pretender). That said, Charles of Anjou is already present in the game. At the moment, he is only taking up the role of papal lapdog, but the conversation with the lord of Ivrea hints that France is indeed 'interested' in causing trouble down the road. What could be done now is bring in the great lords of Burgundy (esp. the Count of Savoy) into it. Burgundian mercenaries (proto-Swiss) already roam the land, so a more active 'invasive' role by large Burgundian lords (mirroring the Magyars, but on the other side, supporting other pretenders) would be a possibility. P.S. - I sent you a PM.

Why the Orthodox religion is playing no role in the mod's story? Some interesting quests can be made here, especially if ya want exploit the monastic brotherhood. For example,a Greek noble, protected by the Doge of Venice,is captured by a marquis who wants to send him to the nearest abbey to be tortured(I'm exagerating a bit),in order to end his conflict with the church. If you talk to the Consule of Venetia,ya will receive the task to bring the prisoner safe to the city.If you ask the priest in the abbey'chapel,ya will receive the task to take the prisoner and deliver him safe and sound to the monks.
