I'm looking forward to downloading the new version and helping test, but I'm a little worried about how my computer it going to handle it.
I've disabled almost all of the high-end graphics requirements on vanilla, and searched for a new driver for my Radeon X300 128mb video card (There's apparently not one); but my game, even when set to 14 men in a battle, jumps like a flea on crack.
Any tips for how to increase framerate so I can get to testing?

Good to see you. I'm afraid the only thing I can think of is to tone down texture detail by quite a lot, if you haven't done so already. Because the new Venice is going to murder your computer I think.

Can't be much worse than mine and I had problems earlier too. Make sure to set anti-aliasing off.

Have you done all the out of game things? Defragmented your drive and removed any unnecessary processes? Those I find make a real big difference.

Have you tried configuring your settings?
Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Monitor > Screen Refresh Rate
That helped me, change it (from) 65hz to 75, and it should be smoother.
